他告诉记者，《豆福传》的概念萌生于11年前，“当时我就想做一部以中国故事为背景的动画电影。家人不理解，工作伙伴纷纷离开，后来，整个团队只剩我一个光杆司令。直到有了同窗17年的视效导演郭磊及动画导演蒙智慧的帮助，最终才有了今天的《豆福传》。”

为了把这个故事能以最佳的视听方式呈现，邹燚带着小伙伴们深入宏村、青城山、武当山等地采风，研究当地建筑及风土人情。最终，选择以徽派建筑设计豆村，以水彩画的形式展现豆子们的日常生活。最特别的是，豆子们的服装。由于豆子们没有结构，光秃秃的，难以表现质感。所以，视效导演郭磊特别找出了自己收藏已久的老土布，按照上面的花纹、质地为豆子们制作服装。邹燚还特别透露，“豆福身上的衣服，实际上就源于郭导的一条围巾。”
